About Us
Pete Duncan served in the Navy during World War II aboard the USS Wadley, before pursuing his lab career in Greenville SC. Soon after, Pete married Iris Grooms and they moved to Charleston, SC. It was then, that Pete began Duncan Dental over 45 years ago with encouragement from a local dentist in Charleston. He and Iris have three grown children and seven grandchildren. Their oldest child Cheryl pursued a career in nursing and the two sons are in the family business. Pete is still a constant at the lab, but has basically turned the management over to Roy and Brad.
Roy Duncan, CDT, is now acting President of the company and head of the porcelain department. Roy attended Trident Technical College and finished his training at MUSC Dental School. Roy is married to the former Kathleen Smyth of Beaufort and they have three children. Roy serves on the state board for the SC Dental Lab Association and his interests also include hunting, fishing and anything to do with his family and church. Kathleen has also joined the family business.
Brad Duncan, CDT, is Vice President of Duncan Dental Lab and is head of the waxing and metal departments. Brad also keeps us abreast of new technology and has been the driving force of our Lava Design Center. A College of Charleston graduate, Brad resides in Summerville with his wife, the former Lori Whiles of Summerville, their two sons and three rescue dogs. A perfect day in his book is going fishing on his boat!
Other members of our team include Sharon Darr, head technician in the model and die department. Sharon's dedication to her work and personality in addition to her education in dental hygiene make her a tremendous asset.
Since pick and delivery is a vital part of our operation, we could not trust that to just anyone, so we hired Aunt Barbara. (Yes, she really is Pete's sister!) We affectionately refer to her as "Aunt B."
